It's about time I wrote some more

I'm so happy to be back writing again. Not sure what I'll write but I have some ideas so here goes. I'm think about the effectiveness of being grateful. I mean how to be grateful even when things are colliding about in your life, and nothing seems balanced or together. You've hit an ice float. There is much battering and clashing in your life and you wonder what on earth this is all about. Surely isn't because my thoughts have created these eventys? It maybe that your thoughts have contributed in part,  but there's also the positioning of the planets that can influence and produce  these undesirable events. For this is when we learn the most. This is when we can grow.

So that's where I my thoughts have been. I have come to realize that it's when things are the rockiest, that you should write a list of things to be grateful for. Writing this list has a cathartic effect in your thinking, and you begin to feel hopeful, and the glimmer of surety bursts forth, sure that you will overcome this nasty stuff. I have a friend who always asks the question, when you tell her of your worries and woes, well are you going before a firing squad? No. Well then. those problems can be solved. Give it your attention and ask The Universe - The Universal Spirit - to help you find the solutions. Your Spiritual Helpers will never let you down.

Until the next time,

Good Morning!

Some weeks ago I gave a presentation at the YMCA on how to keep an exercise program going when injured, and it was a great success. I worked hard on this presentation, and was concerned that the people who signed up for it wouldn't like it. They loved it. They have contacted the YMCA and asked for me to talk more on other subjects for seniors.I'm meeting with the person who books the dates and I'm looking forward to discussing some of the other ideas I have for presentation subjects. She asked me if I would be willing to speak at other YMCA's and I told her that I'd love to. Bring it on!I'm excited to develop my speaking career! I am a dynamic public speaker and it's not like work. I love to see people benefit by my words. What an amazing adventure!

This is a fabulous day!

It's been some time since I last used this blog. No matter, because here I am back and ready to share and have fun.
So much has happened, I hardly know where to start. Enough for now, I think, to ay hello and that I've missed you and I'll post post again soon some interesting information for seniors, and younger people too.
I'll organize my thoughts and be formulating something to share in the next few days.

TIMING IS EVERYTHING....

Many things have transpired since my last post - it feels right to be posting something new at last!

I have a pocket of time - 20 minutes - and will talk about as much as I am able to in that time-frame.

So the last time I posted was early December 2010. Thank God that year has gone! It was not the best year for me at all.

The year finished up with me having a terrible auto "hit and run" accident when I was travelling up to spend the holidays with my family. It was pouring with rain - had started two hours before - and visibility was bad. I was in the 3rd lane and a truck came up to my right side, attempted to come into my lane, and clipped me. I lost control of my car when his truck clipped me and careened across the freeway like a mad thing. My car smashed into the concrete middle divider, and careened back across the freeway fromn the impact. I ended up on the shoulder, facing the right way.

It was a miracle no other car hit me. It was a miracle I didn't hit another car. The cars all waited. A miracle. The most blessed miracle of all was that except for a bruised right breast from the tightness of the seat belt,I was unharmed! Both seen and unseen Angels surrounded me and helped me - the paramedics who left when they saw I was fine, the darling couple who stopped and remarked on how calm I was, and Officer Matthews of the Highway Patrol who was so kind to me I will never forget him - a seen Angel.

When things happen to me, both good things and bad things, I always look for the lesson. This accident was no different.

I will write more about the lessons I learned in my next post.

Be Fun Fit & Fabulous my sweethearts!

WHAT CHRISTMAS MEANS TO ME

Christmas has always been the most magical time for me. Ever since I was a tiny girl it always seemed to me that the people around me were happier and more kind at Christmas time. My father would be talking about what the Christmas dinner would be as soon as December rolled around. We always had turkey, ham and even pork with the lovely crackling left on the roast so that when it was cooked that crackling was so crisp and delicious! The meat decisions were always my dad's responsibility. My mother and father and my sister and I always went over to my Nana's house for the holiday, in a place outside of London, Waltham Cross. My uncles and aunties and cousins would all gather and the celebration would begin on Christmas Eve. My uncles always gave us kids shiny half-crowns and they would smoke cigars and drink sherry or port.

Those happy memories are still with me, and I have made some more along the way. I still love Christmas with all of my heart and live every moment of this season. I love all of the planning and the shopping and when I hear people complain about it I wonder why because I get such pleasure from it. My favorite time to shop is at night, at about 8 pm. You get great parking and the stores are virtually empty save for the few men who leave everything to the last minute like I like to do. You also get great bargains at this time.

I have a DVD of the original "Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, featuring Alistair Sim that I never get tired of watching. The story of Scrooge is one of redemption that touches my heart and makes me cry every time I watch it.I will watch it at least 4 times in the weeks prior to Christmas, and I'll cry every time. Tears of joy I might add at the change Scrooge goes through and what he becomes. There's always hope for all of us, and that movie reminds me of that every year.

The smells of Christmas are fabulous. Turkey roasting in the oven, cinnamon and orange and nutmeg all remind me of what time of year it is. I love to put some spices in a small amount of water, bring it to a boil and let it simmer on the stove, gently perfuming the house with its healing pleasurable perfume.

So that's what Chistmas means to me. It's a time to be generous and happy on every level, and to remember that we are all connected and the smiles and kindness make us all feel that onesness more strongly. It's what Santa Claus or Father Christmas as I called him, stands for. So yes, I absolutely believe in Santa Claus. You must keep your sense of wonder and awe and you belief in things unseen that cannot be proven scientifically, Thank God!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

A "Catching up" Kind of piece

Phew - finally I have some time to post some thoughts on my blog, it's been a very busy time!

I am completley moved from my condo and am very happy about that. My family helped me move and while it took longer and was a bit more stressfull, it was nice that I had the extra time and the blessed help. My son was and Angel and was with me through it all. I will be moving into my own place in the new year.

Speaking of the new year I have a few goals and aspirations, some things I have planned that I might eliminate - we'll see as time goes on and Universe tells me what is next. My life is truly an adventure and I treasure every moment.

I am dating and and meeting some very nice men. I can't believe how nice these guys are - it seems that some very sweet people - and by sweet I mean exciting too - are coming into my sphere of being for which I'm very grateful.

My definition of gratitude is that it is happiness coupled with wonder. I think if you keep the wonder in your life you are going to be OK. Wonder at the beautiful colour of a flower, feeling the rain on your face; sticking out  your tongue and feeling the rain on it - just looking at this wonderful world and giving thanks and gratitude for everything you have. Feeling rich and prosperous as you consider how filled to overflowing nature is. There is always enough and we are rich beyond our conmprehension.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

All about change!

This post will be about change and how change affects us. I knew for a long time that my condo was for sale, and when it sold I would be moving on, yet now that escrow has closed I am filled with a feeling I can't identify. It isn't quite sadness, or anything negative. It just feels strange. I have lived in this area of San Diego for 10 years, and it feels weird to be leaving it. Yet I started my time in San Diego in the south bay - so it's familiar to me too.

So what is happening, I realized, is that I am resisting change. My old life is dying, and a new birth is occuring. That's what Jesus demonstrated to us on the cross. We have to die sometimes to be reborn into something much greater. And while we are on the cross - resistance - it feels horrid. We've all heard the phrase, "One door closes, and another one opens". Never a truer word has been spoken. But you can't open the new door while the old one is still open - that's the catch. And we humans sometimes want to do that. We say "Just let me take a peek at what's waiting for me - something so fabulous and all shiny and new, before I close the door on what was" No, that can't happen. Universe says close the old door - and then I'll show you the fabulous happiness I have in store for you.

In another sense it's as if you have crawled through a long tunnel, and when you come to the opening and daylight, you have to climb up to a new level. You squeeze through the opening and clamber up to this new place of being and learning. As you look around you nothing is familiar. Everything is different. And you don't like it one bit. You want what's familiar back. More security in that you think. But guess what - you cannot go back, you have to keep going. So you push through this mystical opening and stand up. It's at this point you begin to have new feelings, thoughts and experiences. New people come into your life and new teachers and you learn. You are reborn as a child and you become as a sponge once again. Entering this rejuvenating phase of your new journey - you can't help, amid the anxiousness and strangeness of it all, thinking how wonderful is all of life. And how blessed we are to have this opportunity for newness open to us. You can do this until you die. There is no age limit; you keep learning until you leave this incredible blue planet Earth!

I hope all of your new pathways and journeys are as magical as mine and that I have opened new avenues of thought about change for you. That's my wish and my hope!
